Arfan Javed-Augustine is a remarkable visual artist, educator, and independent curator with an outstanding career spanning more than two
decades. Currently serving as a faculty member at the Institution of Design and Visual Arts, Lahore College for Women University, since 2006,
Arfan has established himself as a leading figure in Pakistan’s art scene.
Arfan’s academic credentials include a BFA with honours and an M.A. (Hons.) in Visual Art with distinction from the National College of
Arts, Lahore. He further honed his skills as an exchange student at the prestigious École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, Paris, France.
Throughout his career, Arfan has attended numerous workshops and earned various certifications, including printmaking workshops with
Swedish artists at Global Arts Village, Dervish Dance, and colour therapy courses in New Delhi, India.
Arfan’s artistic achievements have been recognised nationally and internationally, with six solo exhibitions and numerous group exhibitions in
countries such as France, Canada, and India. He has received several awards and grants, including the Student Exchange Scholarship for École
Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris and a residency grant from the Foundation TenotCAMAC Centre d’Art Marnay Art Centre, France.
As an educator, Arfan has mentored numerous students, serving as a thesis advisor, coordinator, and supervisor for MS and BS studio practice
students. He has curated several art exhibitions, both within and outside the institute, which have attracted large audiences and garnered
critical acclaim. His students’ thesis displays have been highly appreciated by faculty and visitors alike.
Arfan’s expertise has also been recognised through his roles as a juror at prestigious institutions, including the National College of Arts, Art &
Design PU, Kinnaird College, and Faisalabad University. He has supervised numerous NCA students working towards their MA (Hons.) in Visual
Arts and participated as a jury member in various art competitions at leading Lahore institutions.
Through his multifaceted career, Arfan Javed-Augustine has demonstrated a commitment to artistic excellence, education, and community
engagement, inspiring a new generation of artists and art enthusiasts in Pakistan and beyond.

Rooted in the Urdu concept of the Word manifesting in tangible form, Tajasim Kalma examines how words, once spoken, take root in hearts and
social soil to shape our shared reality.
